Essa teen charged with racing on Highway 400

Police say 19-year-old Essa Township man was also driving while under suspension

SEGUIN TOWNSHIP - On May 28, 2019 a member of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on stationary patrol on Highway 400 in Seguin Township, Ont.

The officer observed a southbound vehicle travelling much faster than the posted speed limit.

At shortly after 9:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle going over 150 kilometers per hour (km/h) in a posted 100 km/h zone. As a result, the twenty-third vehicle was stopped for "stunt driving" in the West Parry Sound area in 2019.  

The driver, Cloe Moore, a 19-year-old male from Essa Township, Ont. was charged with:

  • Race a motor vehicle - excessive speed, contrary to section 172(1) of the highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA), and
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the HTA, two counts.

The driver is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on June 25, 2019. His licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days.
