Escaped inmate arrested in Orillia

ORILLIA - The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been made aware of an escaped inmate in the Orillia area.

On Oct. 9, 2018, Gaston Gagnon, age 29 of Orillia has been identified as being in the Orillia area and believed to be involved in property crime. The suspect is an escaped inmate from the Sudbury Jail.

As a result of his status, the Orillia OPP and the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) are investigating the whereabouts of this wanted person.

The accused was arrested on Oct. 24, 2018 and is in custody and awaiting a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Oct. 25, 2018.
