A man and a woman from Toronto face theft charges after Barrie police say they stole about $3,200 worth of electronics accessories from a south-end store Wednesday afternoon.

City police were contacted by store security shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 about two shoplifters. They had been apprehended as they left the store after stealing a "significant number" of electronic accessories, according to police.

When officers arrived, police say they confirmed that a 25-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, both from Toronto, had concealed the items in a backpack and made no attempt to pay for them as they walked by all of the checkouts.

They were charged with theft under $5,000 and released from custody. They are scheduled to appear in Barrie court on Feb. 14.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.

Police say all of the stolen items were recovered.
