Barrie police investigate a collision on Edgehill Drive between an e-bike and a pedestrian that sent both to hospital on Tuesday.

Barrie police have no updates on the condition of the two individuals injured Tuesday in a collision near the intersection of Edgehill Drive and Jagges Drive, which left both the rider and the pedestrian with serious injuries.

The driver of the e-bike, a 45-year-old Barrie man, was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious condition, while the pedestrian, a 44-year-old Barrie man, was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, also with serious injuries.

“From the preliminary investigation, it would appear as if the pedestrian was not crossing the road properly,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.

Police had previously reported the vehicle involved to be a motorcycle.

The crash, which happened around 4 p.m., led to a road closure along Edgehill Drive between Jagges Drive and Ferndale Drive. The road was reopened around 10 p.m.
