Barrie Police Service is looking for information on a missing dog from the Yonge Street and Big Bay Point area after a dog matching the description was identified in a local pet store.

On Monday, March 19, 2018 the small, male, short haired Chihuahua/Pug mix named Lincoln escaped from a residence on 549 Yonge St. in the City of Barrie. The dog was being cared for while its owner was away on vacation, therefore the dog was not familiar with the area.

After Lincoln went missing, groups searched for him with no avail. Posters and canvassing was conducted by local pet search and rescue organizations as well as the owner.

On Monday, April 2, 2018, information was obtained that an unknown female entered the Pet Valu, located at 632 Yonge St. in the City of Barrie with a dog that appeared to match the description of Lincoln.

Witnesses reported to police that the female did believe the dog had been wandering without food for a few days. She purchased food for the pup and was taking him to a local veterinary to be checked out.

Description of Lincoln:

  • Chihuahua/Pug mix
  • Short haired
  • Adult male
  • Black, tan and white in colour

Nothing criminal has been determined thus far in the investigation, however at this time officers are looking to speak to the female who attended the pet store in a an attempt to determine where and when the dog was found and if, in fact, it is Lincoln.

Also any veterinary offices, specifically in south end of Barrie area, are asked to please review the photos and contact police with any information on either the dog or female.
