Video surveillance assisted police in identifying a male who had been using counterfeit money in the downtown core.
A downtown establishment contacted police after the male had purchased a $3 item and paid for it using a counterfeit Canadian $50 bill.
Police caught up with him and arrested the 47-year-old Barrie male for possession of counterfeit money, using counterfeit money, fail comply with recognizance and possession of a controlled substance.
The male was held for bail and will appear in a Barrie court on Monday.
