Cash stolen during break-in at Pizza Pizza in Angus

Police say approximately $550 was taken during break-and-enter that occurred early this morning

ESSA TWP. - The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a break and enter at the Pizza Pizza located at 195 Mill St., in Angus, Essa Township.

On Friday Aug. 21, 2020, at approximately 2:52 a.m., a citizen driving by the Pizza Pizza noticed that the front door of the restaurant appeared to be broken. Upon closer look, the citizen confirmed that the front door was smashed and immediately contacted police.

Members of the Nottawasaga OPP responded to the location and commenced an investigation. Nobody was located inside the restaurant. A Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) attended to process the scene and collect evidence.

The owner of the restaurant was contacted and also attended the location and confirmed that the restaurant was locked by an employee at 1 a.m.

At this time, damage to the cash registers and safe have been reported to police, and approximately $550 was stolen during the break and enter.

The OPP is asking the public to contact police if they observe any suspicious persons or activity that may be taking place, especially during the overnight hours. Businesses with surveillance cameras that capture any illegal activity in and around their business are also asked to call the OPP, as the images and video may assist in solving these ongoing and troublesome occurrences.
