NEWS RELEASE

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

On Tuesday, July 4, 2017, around 10:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were sent to a Bradford home for an assault. A man had been allowed to stay in an apartment as a favour but had worn out his welcome and was asked to leave. He kept returning through the day and was refused entry.

At one point, while two friends were coming in, the suspect suddenly arrived and (allegedly) pushed his way into the apartment, assaulting two of the occupants on the way. He brandished a closed pocket knife, but was grabbed and pushed out of the apartment. The suspect fled as police were called.

The suspect was found a short distance away hiding in a backyard. The knife was recovered.

A 34-year-old Bradford man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, weapons dangerous and forcible entry. He was held custody and will appear in court today for a bail hearing.

The victims did not require medical attention.
