Bradford boy, 13, charged with aggravated assault

Police say teen was charged after dispute with another boy; Victim remains in hospital in critical condition

A 13-year-old Bradford boy has been charged with aggravated assault after another teen was critically injured in an "altercation."

At approximately 8:20 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, South Simcoe police officers were called regarding a 13-year-old boy who had been taken to hospital after collapsing shortly after arriving home from school.

The victim remains in critical condition in a hospital, according to police.

An investigation conducted by the police department's Criminal Investigation Bureau determined the teen had been injured in a physical altercation.

As a result of the investigation, a 13-year-old Bradford boy has been charged with aggravated assault. He was released to his parents pending a future court date.

The name of the accused cannot be released due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Through the investigation, police say they have been made aware of a video of the fight that is circulating on social media. Police are appealing to anyone who has the video to submit it anonymously to Crime Stoppers on this website or call the anonymous tip line at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
