Barrie woman faces serious charges after discovery in gathering of unwanted people

A search revealed over 30 grams of fentanyl and more than $5,700 in cash

On Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at 7:35 p.m., Barrie Police officers were called to an apartment at 100 Dunlop St. E., in the City of Barrie, after a report of a gathering of unwanted people.

Officers located seven individuals inside the apartment and after identifying each of them it was determined one female was currently bound by court conditions to not associate with two other individuals in attendance. It was also believed the female had concealed a large quantity of fentanyl prior to police arrival.

The female was arrested and transported to the Barrie Police Service where a search revealed over 30 grams of fentanyl concealed and over $5,700 in cash believed to be associated to drug trafficking. 

A 25-year-old Barrie female has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - opioid
  • Fail to comply with recognizance x2

The female was held at the Barrie Police Service overnight to attend a bail hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018.
