Barrie woman charged with careless driving following crash in Kitchener

The 28-year-old woman was involved in a two-vehicle collision that sent one person to hospital

Waterloo Regional Police have laid a charge in connection with a collision in Kitchener.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Fischer-Hallman Road and Highland Road West just before 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say a Chevrolet SUV was travelling north on Fischer Hallman when it was allegedly struck by a BMW crossover vehicle that was travelling east on Highland.

The SUV spun out of control, mounting the curb of the centre median, before flipping over and striking a light standard.

A passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital.

Northbound lanes of Fischer-Hallman were also closed for around three hours while police conducted their investigation and the light standard was repaired.

A Barrie woman, 28, has been charged with careless driving.
