The Barrie Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Inspector Robert W. Allan to the position of Deputy Chief – Support Services, effective July 29, 2020.

The Barrie Police Services Board is also pleased to announce that Chief Kimberley Greenwood, who was appointed as Chief of Police in 2013, will continue in this role until 2023.

With the continued growth of the city, the Deputy Chief – Support Services was integrated into the 2020 budget to enable the Service to support the changing needs of the community. Deputy Chief Ken Weatherill will be responsible for Operations while Deputy Chief Allan will be responsible for Support Services once he is sworn into his new role.

“We are entering a period of significant change. This internal appointment, in addition to the extension to Chief Greenwood’s contract, will position the Barrie Police Service to continue to build collaborative relationships with the community and ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens. The professional policing that the Barrie Police Service provides to our community will continue to be our priority while we explore innovative ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our service delivery,” said Barrie Police Services Board Chair Angela Lockridge.

“We look forward to maintaining the exceptional leadership of Chief Greenwood and appreciate her commitment to the community and the Service,” said Barrie Police Services Board Chair Angela Lockridge.

“Inspector Allan is a valued member of our Service and has excelled in each role in which he has served. His appointment to Deputy Chief will benefit the community and the members of the Service.”

“I believe that effective police leadership is achieved by knowledge and a vision that is focused not only on the members of the Service, but also on the community as a whole, which Inspector Allan has exemplified throughout his career,” said Barrie Police Chief Kimberley Greenwood.

“The next few years will be a time of innovation and change in the world of policing. I look forward to leading the Barrie Police Service through this unique period, working collaboratively with the community and our members,” said Greenwood.

“I am honoured at the opportunity to serve our community as the Deputy Chief of Support Services, and to help lead such a wonderful organization that I have been proud to have been a part of since 2000. I am humbled to have been selected and look forward to the new responsibility that this opportunity will bring,” said Inspector Allan.
