As COVID-19 restrictions ease and more and more people return to work and volunteering, the Barrie Police Service is improving the process to complete criminal record checks, to make it easier for the community when applying for a record check.

With the Records Unit closed to the public due to COVID, applications for criminal record checks can be submitted online for anyone over the age of 18. Previously applicants had to be over the age of 21.

If results do not require a follow up, instead of a hard copy being mailed, results will be returned electronically to the applicant with a digital seal and Barrie Police watermark to confirm authenticity.

The document is secured so that no changes can be made once it is returned to the applicant. If you have questions or need further information or assistance regarding criminal record checks, please contact the Barrie Police Service Records Unit at 705-725-7025 – Ext. 2141.

Our Records Unit has been working diligently to ensure a quick turnaround time on applications. As summer camps and employment gets underway, the Barrie Police Service encourages those who require a criminal record check to visit our website at www.BarriePolice.ca and apply as soon as possible.
