POINTE AU BARIL - On Dec. 14, 2017 at 3:58 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to Highway 69 near Pointe Au Baril. Reports to police indicated that a small black car was observed to have been swerving on the roadway.
Investigation has revealed that an officer who was in the area located the car and a traffic stop occurred. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer determined that the driver of the car had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Danny Valitalo, 52 years of age from Oro-Medonte Township, Ont. was arrested and charged with:
- Driving while ability impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada(CC)
- Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Jan. 4, 2018.
