Alliston man charged in drug trafficking investigation

Police seized approximately 300 doses of fentanyl with a street value of about $8000

NEW TECUMSETH – In May 2020, members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) commenced a drug trafficking investigation involving cocaine and fentanyl in the Alliston area.

On Thursday Sept. 10, 2020, Thomas Nsiah, 22 years of age, of Alliston, New Tecumseth, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine, contrary to s.5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) - two counts;  
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to s.5(2) CDSA; and  
  • Possession of property obtained by crime Over $5,000, contrary to s.354(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.  

As part of the ongoing investigation, police have seized over $5,000 of Canadian currency, fentanyl, cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value for the quantity of fentanyl alone is approximately $8,000, which is approximately 300 street level doses.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Bradford Court of Justice at 9 a.m, on Oct. 15, 2020.
