Accused 'Butter Ripple bandit' arrested

Jan. 7, 2020 update from Barrie Police:
The butter ripple bandit has been identified and charged. Thank you to the media and the public for your assistance.

Original Dec. 27, 2019 Barrie Police Service release:
On Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, an unidentified male entered the LCBO located at 55 Mary St. at approximately 6:45 p.m. He decided to satisfy his sugar craving and his alcohol craving with a bottle of Butter Ripple liquor.

Unfortunately, he concealed the bottle in his clothing and [is accused of leaving] the store without making any attempts to pay.

The suspect is described as:
    •    Male, black
    •    Medium build
    •    Wearing a black jacket, a black toque with grey fur-trimmed ear flaps and brim, grey sweat pants and brown boots
