On Thursday, March 15 at approximately 3 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer responded to a report of a dropped 9-1-1 call with no voice contact on ring-back at a home in Gilford.

Upon arrival, the officer met with two youths, a 15-year-old boy and his little sister. The sister apologized for calling 9-1-1 by accident.

In a second incident  just before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a Bradford home for a 9-1-1 unintentional hang up. A woman told police that her 9-year-old daughter was playing with mom's new phone and it accidentally dialed 9-1-1. The emergency feature has since been deactivated.

South Simcoe Police Service encourages parents to keep an eye on their children during March break to avoid the accidental misuse of the emergency line and police resources.
