SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

INNISFIL - On Sunday, June 25, 2017, just before 11 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to an Alcona home for a domestic assault in progress. Hearing that police were on their way, the suspect fled. As they arrived, officers tended to the victim who told them she had been choked and her hair pulled out. Investigators learned that the suspect is on a previous bail condition to stay away from the victim, but had been there all day on Sunday (allegedly) consuming alcohol.
The victim did not require medical attention. A search for the suspect was conducted without success.
On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, the 65-year-old Innisfil man surrendered himself to police. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on charges of domestic assault, choking, and three counts of fail to comply-undertaking.
Often, victims of domestic abuse delay reporting their situation to police.
If you know anyone in an abusive relationship, you can assist them by reassuring them that police are available to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We have trained victim services counsellors who will assist with advice, housing and support through the court process. You are not alone.
