17-year-old faces two assault charges

TOWN OF PENETANGUISHENE - On June 9, 2017 at approximately 1:20 a.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call regarding an assault.

A 61-year-old male resident of Penetanguishene called to report that another male had entered his residence and assaulted him.

As a result of the police investigation, a 17-year-old male from the Penetanguishene area has been charged with:

  • Break and enter a dwelling house - commit indictable offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

On July 2, 2017 at approximately 5:22 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to an altercation that was taking place on Main Street in Penetanguishene, Ont. A 56-year-old male had been assaulted.

As a result of the police investigation, the same 17-year-old male has been charged with:

  • Assault causing bodily harm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland, Ont. on Aug. 2, 2017.
