Junior curlers hit the button at Barrie club (11 photos)

Teams reaching the finals in their categories at Barrie Curling Club event move on to BrokerLink OVCA Junior SuperSpiel in Ottawa

The Barrie Curling Club hosted the Stu Sells U18 and Junior Tankards this weekend, with 41 teams competing for the top spot in each of their categories.

The crack of rocks knocking together and the usual yells of “hurry hard!”, “right off!”, and “whoa!” echoed throughout the Essa Road rink as the competition was fierce.

Teams that made the finals in their categories move on to BrokerLink OVCA Junior SuperSpiel in Ottawa from Nov. 4-6.

The championship game teams in both the U18 and junior categories earned points toward entry in CurlON Provincial Championships.

The Stu Sell series event is the largest competition that the club has hosted since the pre-pandemic curling season.

The tournament also collected donations for the Barrie Food Bank over the Thanksgiving weekend.
