WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish moved into a first-place tie with London and Guelph after a 14-2 win over Barrie at home Saturday night.

Tyler Dupuis went 3-for-5 with four RBI and three runs as Welland improved to 30-11 with one game left. Justin Gideon homered and drove in two, James Smibert went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, Gianfranco Morello had two hits and two runs, Mattingly Romanin had three hits and scored three times, Brandon Nicholson and Matteo Porcellato each drove in a run and scored and Hogan Brown knocked in three.

Rich Corrente (6-2) tossed six scoreless innings for the win. He scattered five hits and struck out one.

Frank Garces (2-3) took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits in two innings. He walked one and fanned four.

For Barrie (21-20), Owen Jansen went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Juan Familia singled and scored.

Royals hammer Red Sox

GUELPH – Guelph pounded out 19 hits in an 18-3 win over Brantford Saturday night.

J.D. Williams had three hits, including a home run, and three RBI in the win. Malik Collymore went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, Dalton Pompey had three hits, an RBI and two runs, Conner Morro drove in two and scored twice, Josh Garton had an RBI and three runs, Sean Reilly and Ethan Hammond each drove in a run, Darius Barlas had two RBI, Justin Interisano singled, doubled and scored twice, Brendan Keys had two hits, three RBI and a run and Jeff MacLeod scored twice.
Emilis Guerrero (8-3) picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out six and didn’t walk anyone.

Guelph improved to 30-11, moving into a tie with London and Welland.

Sean Hood-Tidman (0-5) took the loss. He allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 11 hits over 4.2 innings. He walked six and fanned four.

At the plate, Jon Dziomba went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Jamirel Orozco had two hits.

Brantford fell to 2-39.
