'Big, strong kid': Colts sign top pick Shamar Moses

Drafted 19th overall, right-winger had 27 points in 36 games with Don Mills Flyers during his U16 year

The Barrie Colts have announced the signing of forward Shamar Moses to an Ontario Hockey League Education Package.

The Colts selected the six-foot-one, 212-pound right-winger from Scarborough with the 19th-overall pick in last month's OHL Priority Selection.

In 36 games with the Don Mills Flyers during his U16 season, Moses scored 14 goals and added 13 assists for 27 points.

“Shamar is a big and strong kid already who is going to be a big piece of our future for the years to come," Barrie's head coach and general manager Marty Williamson said in a news release.

"He’s a player who likes to score and possesses a strong shot," Williamson added. "We’re happy to have him and his family join us and we’re excited to start working with him."

Moses is the first selection signed from the Colts’ 2023 draft class. The team says he will be wearing No. 78 in the upcoming 2023-24 season.
