MIDHURST COMMUNITY RECREATION ASSOCIATION

The Christmas season was officially kicked off in Midhurst this past weekend as the Midhurst Community Recreation Association held our 2nd annual Midhurst Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Apart from a few special guests in attendance, 2020 marked the first year that our Christmas celebrations have been entirely virtual. Residents had the opportunity to watch live on our social media channels as we lit the tree at Doran Park and marked the official beginning of Christmas in the village.
In attendance were a few special guests, including Mayor Don Allen and MP Doug Shipley, who both emphasized the need to celebrate the season safely, and noted that the virtual tree lighting is a perfect way to do just that. Thank you to Mayor Allen and MP Shipley for taking the time to attend our event.
Thank you as well to the countless local residents who watched live on social media and rewatched our tree lighting video in the days after. Without your participation and support we would not be able to host these events.
Other Christmas events:
The tree lighting was just the beginning of our Christmas festivities in Midhurst, with many more activities planned by the Midhurst Community Recreation Association.
We are encouraging residents to submit photos of their Christmas lights to [email protected] to take part in our Festival of Lights. We will be posting all entries on our website at MidhurstON.ca/christmas and encouraging our neighbours to vote for their favourites starting Dec. 12.
On Christmas Eve, we are also encouraging Midhurst residents to step out their front doors and ring bells at 6 pm. .to spread Christmas cheer in our community.
