The renown Toronto Mass Choir makes a stop in Barrie at a benefit concert in support of The Salvation Army Bayside Mission on Friday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. at Harvest Bible Chapel, 7 George Street in Barrie.

The Toronto Mass Choir is a thirty-five-voice strong group and includes a four-piece band accompaniment. The not-for-profit choir consists of adult members who are from various local church denominations including Baptist, Church of God, Wesleyan, Missionary, and Pentecostal.

Their music incorporates contemporary gospel, traditional gospel, and Caribbean music influences, resulting in a style unique in Canada.

The Salvation Army Bayside Mission, located on Bayfield Street just south of the Five Points in Barrie’s downtown, provides a year-round community meal program, men’s shelter, and other critical services in support of some of Barrie’s most vulnerable citizens.

Harvest Bible Chapel’s lead pastor, Todd Dugard said, “This benefit concert is a way for our church to engage our community with both an amazing Christmas event as well as a worthwhile way to support one of our local partner agencies.”

The second annual event is called “Yule Love” and is expected to sell out quickly. “The venue, our worship centre, provides an intimate concert atmosphere with just 470 tickets available,” Dugard said. Tickets for the concert are $30 each.
