The Barrie Police is appealing to the public for assistance after a theft was reported in the City of Barrie.

On Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 just before 3 p.m., a female suspect attended the Toys ‘R Us located at 555 Bayfield St. and (allegedly) attempted to steal a stroller. After leaving the store with the stroller, the suspect was confronted in the parking lot by keen-eyed staff from the store who knew that the stroller had not been purchased. The suspect did re-enter the store only to leave a short time later by way of another exit. The stroller that had been located in the parking lot was recovered.

The following day, the same officer responded to the south end Barrie location of Toys ‘R Us located at 30 North Village Way for the theft of a Graco EVO XT QUAD Travel System. The stroller system, which is valued at over $700, was stolen by the same (alleged) suspect who one day earlier, had attempted to steal an identical stroller from the Bayfield Street location.

Assisted by closed circuit television (CCTV), police have confirmed that the suspect caught on video entered the store at 3:55 p.m. and left four minutes later without attempting to pay for the stroller.

Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact Constable Baker of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025, ext. 2713 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or leave an anonymous tip online.
