Springwater Township pumped up over new fire truck

New truck, which will be assigned to the Elmvale station, seats six firefighters and is equipped with a pump rated for 6,000 litres per minute

Springwater Fire & Emergency Services has taken delivery of its new pumper/tanker fire truck.

The truck was purchased through Commercial Emergency Equipment Co., in Woodstock, Ont., and built by Maxi-Metal Inc. in Saint-Georges, Que. The 2021 Pierce Saber Custom Cab seats six firefighters and is equipped with a Waterous fire pump rated for 6,000 litres per minute. The truck also has a 6,750-litre water tank, as well as an on-board foam system.

Other features include a 10-inch swivel stainless steel dump valve, electric over hydraulic portable tank and ladder storage rack, along with electric over hydraulic hose bed covers and LED emergency and scene lighting.

“On behalf of Springwater Fire & Emergency Services I would like to thank Springwater council for their continued support of the fire department,” says Fire Chief Jeff Kirk. “The new truck will ensure we are able to provide outstanding fire protection services to the current and future residents of Springwater.”

The new truck has been assigned to Fire Station No. 5 in Elmvale and will replace two aging fire apparatus.
