TOWNSHIP OF SPRINGWATER – The Township Administration Centre will be closed today (Feb. 25) due to inclement weather. All Township recreation programs scheduled for today are also cancelled.
The public meeting, currently scheduled for 6:30 p.m., is cancelled and will be rescheduled as soon as possible. The public meeting involves the following matters:
- ZB-2018-009 - Punia Group Inc.
- ZB-2018-011 - 20006384 Ontario Inc. (Gallo)
- OP-2018-004 - Lots 8 and 9, Plan 51M-995
Dangerous snow squalls with blizzard conditions will continue through midday. Snow squalls combining with strong northwest winds gusting to 70 km/h continue to produce dangerous whiteout conditions in many areas.
Numerous road closures are impacting operations and the Ontario Provincial Police are urging residents to stay off the roads. Power outages, damage to trees and structures are being reported across the region.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you do travel and become lost, remain where you are until the blizzard has passed. The Township encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
Regular hours of operation will resume tomorrow (Feb. 26), unless otherwise notified.
