Site plan remains under review for downtown tower project (4 photos)

Proposal includes six-, eight- and 20-storey buildings with 278 residential units across from the Barrie Public Library's downtown branch

Barrie’s Ward 2 awaits a 20 storeys at the corner of Owen and Worsley streets, an eight-storey tower at the corner of Owen and McDonald streets, and a six-storey mixed-use podium and amenity building connecting them.

The development will have 278 residential units and 950 square metres of ground-floor commercial space, along with underground and structured parking.

The land’s rezoning, to allow the development to move forward, was approved by Barrie city council on Nov. 26, 2018.

Site-plan control of the property, received by the city in July 2021, is under review by city planning staff.

The address of the properties is 55-57 McDonald St., 61-67 Owen St. and 70-78 Worsley St., right across from Barrie Public Library’s downtown branch.
