Smiles all around.

The dental hygiene students from Barrie’s Georgian College are offering discount dental care to seniors this month as part of Fall Prevention Month.

“Oral care is an important part of overall health care," said program co-ordinator Ann-Marie Conaghan.

For $20 seniors (over 65) can register for a full evaluation which could include teeth cleaning, polishing, fluoride treatment, denture cleaning, X-rays as needed and oral health education.

“The work will be done by students in the dental course at the college with supervision of a registered dental hygienist," Conaghan said. "It will likely be the most thorough examination the patient has ever had.

"The only downside, if there is one, is that it will be about a three-hour appointment because we are teaching at the same time as offering care," she added.

If additional care is needed, that will also be covered under the $20 price.

The school is setting aside two full days for appointments and two full evening options.

While seniors need to register in November, the treatments could be done anytime through March of next year.

To register, call Brenda Carter at 705-728-1968, ext. 1387.
