Santa Claus parade and annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Barrie on Saturday night.

The Barrie Chamber of Commerce is pleased to have a longstanding partnership with Santa; he joins us each year for this fun night parade that features fantastic lights, colours, and music.

The theme for this year's parade is "My Favourite Christmas Song." Organizers expect that floats will incorporate a variety of Christmas stories, songs, movies and books.

The parade will get underway at 5:00 p.m. and will travel from Tiffin Street and Lakeshore Drive, heading straight up Tiffin to Bradford Street, then north on Bradford to Dunlop Street, and through downtown Barrie to Memorial Square and the Downtown Barrie Tree Lighting festivities.

Children can visit with Santa after the annual tree-lighting, and there will be free wagon rides, hot chocolate, face painting, outdoor holiday films and fireworks.

This year’s films, presented by Tim Hortons, will be Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (1964) and Frosty the Snowman (1969).

Visitors will receive free hot chocolate (while supplies last) with a donation to the Tim Hortons Food Drive or the Rock 95 & Kool FM Toy Drive.
