Some parts of downtown Barrie will be closed off next weekend for the 2023 CIBC Run for the Cure.

The Canadian Cancer Society and organizers require a full road closure of Simcoe Street between Maple Avenue and Dunlop Street, as well as Bayfield Street between Simcoe Street and Chase McEachern Way for the annual event.

The closure will be in place on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 7 a.m. until noon.

The Spirit Catcher Parking Lot will also be closed for the event.

Access for businesses and residents within the closure is to be maintained. Emergency services will have access to respond within the closure, but not to travel through it.

Access to the Barrie Transit Terminal will not be affected, according to the city.

Paid-duty officers will be present on-site.

Detour routes in effect:
Bayfield Street - Dunlop Street - Maple Ave – Simcoe Street
Simcoe Steet – Maple Ave – Dunlop Street.
