The Barrie Colts split their weekend road trip, which took them to Sarnia and Oshawa.

The Oshawa Generals scored three goals in the first period alone, Sunday night, en route to a 4-0 win over the visiting Colts at Tribute Communities Centre in Ontario Hockey League action.

Scoring for the Generals in the opening frame were Danil Antropov, Giovanni Villati and Nando Eggenberger, while Eric Henderson made it 4-0 just a minute and a half into the second period.

There was no more scoring after the fourth goal.

Oshawa's Kyle Keyser picked up the shutout after turning aside all 34 shots, while Barrie's Maksim Zhukov picked up the loss after allowing four goals on 37 shots.

The Colts came into Sunday night's game riding a high from Thursday's overtime victory.

On Thursday night in Sarnia, the Colts defeated the Sting, 3-2, in overtime. Barrie forward Lucas Chiodo scored the overtime winner, his 11th goal of the season.

Also scoring in the Sarnia game for Barrie were Aidan Brown, with less than three minutes to go to tie the game at 2-2, and Luke Bignell who potted his fourth of the season midway through the second period.

Colts defenceman Joey Keane assisted on both the game-tying and game-winning goals versus Sarnia.

Zhukov, who's a Vegas Golden Knights prospect, stopped 26 of 28 shots he faced in Sarnia to earn the win.

The Colts have been well travelled of late, having played only two home games since mid-October.

Barrie defeated the visiting Windsor Spitfires, 6-1, on Saturday, Oct. 27 and their last home game before that was on Oct. 13, a 6-5 overtime victory over the Niagara IceDogs.

The Colts return to the familiar confines of the Barrie Molson Centre on Saturday, Nov. 10 when they host the Ottawa 67's.

But before that, they will travel to Guelph on Friday, Nov. 9 to face the Storm.

Chiodo and Ryan Suzuki sit in the top-20 in OHL league scoring with 24 points apiece. Chiodo has 11 goals and 13 assists in 17 games, while Suzuki has six goals and 18 assists in 15 games.

Colts forward Matej Pekar, a Buffalo Sabres prospect, is third in team scoring with 19 points (9G, 10A) in 17 games.

The Colts (9-7-1) are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, two points up on the North Bay Battalion and the Hamilton Bulldogs.
