The Barrie Police Traffic Unit along with uniform members kicked off the holiday R.I.D.E program.

Police stopped 143 vehicles which resulted in the administration of four roadside screening tests.

Unfortunately drivers are not getting the message about the dangers of driving impaired. Police arrested a 39 year-old male and a 20 year-old female from Barrie. They have both been charged with over 80 and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

With the holiday season arriving, we are asking drivers to make the right decision and have a plan to get home safely after attending Christmas parties or just a night out on the town.

A cab fare home is cheaper then hiring a lawyer and your family will be able to plan a Christmas dinner instead of a funeral.
