The city will open registration for the winter season tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 7). Currently, customers can browse offerings and save them to their “Wish List” to conveniently find desired programs when registration opens.

“As we head into the winter, we know it’s more important than ever to stay mentally and physically active,” says Rob Bell, Director, Recreation & Culture Services. “At the City, we’re providing program offerings catered to every age and activity level: from swimming lessons to creative arts programs to instructional sports.”

In addition to in-person programs, the City continues to offer virtual programs for users, as well as recPASS memberships that include unlimited access to drop-in programs (including fitness, skating and swimming) and unlimited virtual fitness classes.

The City provides a fee assistance program, called RecACCESS, that offers support to low-income families and individuals in Barrie by providing qualifying participants with a RecPASS membership and youth credits that can be applied to the registration fee for qualifying programs and activities.

Learn more about RecACCESS and other fee assistance programs at barrie.ca/RecACCESS.

Pre-registration and a completed City of Barrie COVID-19 screening form is required for all activities, and City staff clean and sanitize equipment after each use.

As a reminder for visitors to the facilities, the City is complying with provincial regulations to require proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Some exceptions are permitted under these regulations.

Also, starting Dec. 8, local health regulations will also require youth aged 12-17 years to show identification and proof of receiving a first dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine to access indoor services and programs taking place at community centres, arenas, and pools.
