Original story:

Phone systems are not working at the City of Barrie, Barrie Police, Barrie Fire and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Several organizations put the word out on their twitter accounts.

"City's phone system is currently unavailable. Investigation is underway," tweeted the City of Barrie.

".@BarriePolice main telephone line is currently unavailable. Affecting main # of 705-725-7025. 911 is operating, but for emergencies ONLY," tweeted Barrie Police.

The police service then sent out a news release stating it is 'experiencing technical difficulties with incoming calls' which has affected the main telephone number.

"Our IT department is currently working to resolve the issue," the release stated.

"We continue to experience issues with incoming calls to the health centre. Our IT dept is working #Bell and #Telus to resolve the issue," said an updated tweet from Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

"Please be advised: #RVH is currently experiencing issues w/ incoming calls to the health centre. IT dept is working to resolve the issue," RVH tweeted earlier.

Barrie Fire spokesperson Samantha Hoffmann confirms the fire department's phone lines are also experiencing technical difficulties.

A Bell Canada spokesperson contacted by BarrieToday said the company was unaware of any problems.

"We have no calls from residents in Barrie saying their phone lines are down and we have not received any reports from the hospital or the police, fire department or the city saying the phone lines are down.  There's a difference between the lines and their internal phone system. That's two different issues. That's as of now," said Caroline Audet.
