Open Air Dunlop cranked up for Bike the Night this weekend

Bike the Night is a lit-up guided community, family-friendly bicycle ride through downtown Barrie and beyond

For a 16th consecutive Saturday, Dunlop Street will be closed to motorized transportation. 

This Saturday, Sept. 17,  the Downtown Barrie BIA is pleased to partner with BIKE the NIGHT! A lit-up guided community, family-friendly bicycle ride through Downtown Barrie and beyond!  Presented by the Active Transportation & Sustainability Committee, the City of Barrie, Cycle Barrie, Barrie Transit, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, Tourism Barrie, Firebird Community Cycle, and Living Green Barrie.  Pre-ride activities begin in Meridian Place at 5 p.m.  Ride begins at Dusk. If early mornings are more your style, we still have many of the Open Air activities you have come to love! - Grab a coffee and stop into the Barrie Farmers Market located at Barrie City Hall (70 Collier Street) and along Mulcaster Street. Open from 8 a.m. to noon.

Fun with Urban Sketching - This Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Led by Monica Loney, a local artist who helped create the Strawberry Mural located at 54 Maple Avenue. Pick up a pen or pencil and capture the beauty of downtown on a sunny September morning.  All materials will be provided and all ages and abilities are welcome!

West End Family Fun - Located across from the Pratt Homes Theater, enjoy free access to fun interactive games and inflatables. Join us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for some family fun in the West end!!!

West End Art - Join artist Alexandra Gronfors this Saturday and make a fall fox with oil pastels! Find Alexandra setup on Dunlop West near Mexhico Restaurant from noon till 4 p.m. All materials will be provided and all ages and abilities are welcome!

Be sure to be on the look out for GIANTS IN THE SKY! - Brought to you by Talk Is Free Theatre. Performances will be taking place over the weekend at multiple outdoor locations around Downtown Barrie.  For tickets and to learn more go to www.tift.ca 

Open Air Afternoons takes over the Meridian Place Stage from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with live music! Joining us this weekend for some Saturday afternoon tunes is Juno nominated singing songwriting duo, Madison Violet! Their unique and heartfelt sound comes from a mix of folk and pop music influences, creating an absorbing and joyful experience for the audience!

Keep an eye out for stilt walkers and jugglers roaming Dunlop Street for your amusement.

Of course, our local businesses will be open to welcome you to browse and shop at your leisure.
