A Canadian philosopher and university professor will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming Journey to Diversity Workplaces (J2DW) annual general meeting.

The non-profit organization, which bills itself as being built on improving the business and social environment by championing diversity and the workers within those workplaces, will host the online event from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.

This year’s theme is 'Breaking free from systemic inequality at work' and is set to feature Dr. Leland Harper, an associate professor at Siena Heights University — a private Catholic university in Adrian, Mich. — where he teaches courses in philosophy and race, justice and equity studies.

As the founder of a consulting firm in Toronto that helps organizations create more fair, equitable, diverse, and inclusive environments for their members, Harper’s research interests include analysis of racial language and its implications for anti-Black racism in North America today.

He also serves on J2DW’s Board of Justice Journeymakers in the office of speaker.

Members of the public and J2DW members can register to attend for free by clicking here.
