CITY OF BARRIE
*************************
From June 15 to Sept. 15, 2022, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., ‘No Parking Except by Permit’ will apply to all previously available on-street parking in select spillover waterfront parking areas; areas within walking distance (approximately 500 metres) of the following waterfront locations:

  • Centennial Beach (65 Lakeshore Dr.)
  • Dock Road Park (204 Dock Rd.)
  • Johnson’s Beach (2 Johnson St.)
  • Minet’s Point Park (10 Brennan Ave.)
  • Tyndale Park (45 Tyndale Rd.)
  • Wilkins Park (121 Crimson Ridge Rd.)

“These parking restrictions were approved as part of the 2020 Parking Strategy, in part to curb overcrowding of our parks and beaches, and to prevent over-use of on-street parking in these areas during the summer,” says Brent Forsyth, Director of Transit and Parking.

Signage reflecting the restrictions is currently installed to identify areas where the restrictions are in place. Pre-existing ‘No Parking Anytime’ and ‘No Parking During Specified Hours’ areas will remain in effect. Vehicles must be registered with an active digital waterfront parking permit, or display a hangtag Waterfront Parking Pass, to avoid getting a ticket while parked on-street.

Residents can get a digital waterfront parking permit for free using the HotSpot app or website via barrie.ca/WaterfrontParking. The 2020 Parking Strategy is available to view and download via barrie.ca/parking.
