A large 'Coming Soon' sign for a new Value Village in the Barrie’s south end has many local thrifters excited.
Although details are scarce, Donna Grant told BarrieToday she’d welcome the addition of a second store in the city, adding she enjoys shopping at the second-hand store as it allows her to find a variety of items at a great price.
“I am from the south end… so I am down in that direction,” she said of the store, located at 42 Caplan Ave., which also had a sign inviting people to apply for positions.
Ildi Baltoumas also often shops at the second-hand store, telling BarrieToday that, more often than not, she's looking for dresses for her daughter.
“The price is great and the quality is good, too, and literally you can find everything here,” Baltoumas said, adding she’d be more than happy to travel to the south end to look for even more deals.
The company’s website indicated several positions specific to the south-end store, including postings for retail store management, retail supervisor and store associates, as well as warehouse and production workers.
A manager at the Wellington Street location was unable to provide any information or comment on the new south-end location, however provided BarrieToday with a telephone number to reach the company’s Customer Care line.
Emails to the company’s media relations email address, as well as to the Customer Care email address, were not returned, nor were voicemail messages. Therefore it's unknown if the new Caplan Avenue location will replace the Wellington Street store, or serve as a second location in Barrie.
The new Value Village location is at the former site of the Sears Home Store.
