The Hospice Simcoe Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Kelly Hubbard is the new executive director of Hospice Simcoe.

Earlier this year, the board took several months to consider the future needs of the organization and then set out a plan for the executive director search. After an extensive interview process, the successful applicant, Kelly Hubbard, was awarded the position.

“I am thrilled and honoured to be a part of the Hospice Simcoe team. This is an incredible organization which is deeply committed to providing high quality palliative care and bereavement support. I look forward to our future as we strive to lessen the stigma that surrounds death and build a community that is passionate about comforting the dying and bereaved,” said Kelly Hubbard, executive director.

Kelly began her career in nursing 26 years ago – the last 20 of those caring for individuals that are dying in a variety of settings in the Barrie area, including RVH. In 2010, Kelly took the position of residential care manager at Hospice Simcoe.

Most recently, Kelly oversaw the work and process that led Hospice Simcoe to be the first Hospice in Ontario to receive accreditation for the combined Residential and Home Visiting Services from Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO).

Kelly received her nursing diploma from Georgian College, her BScN from York University and a MHSc of Bioethics at the University of Toronto. She is one of the first recipients of the Jean Echlin Award for Ethics in Palliative Care as Outstanding Practitioner.

Hospice Simcoe provides high quality palliative and end-of-life care for individuals living with a life-limiting illness and support for family members. Our programs include visiting hospice, residential hospice and grief and bereavement support.
