Initiated by the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce and the City of Barrie in 2003, the Barrie Business Awards program recognizes the contribution of local businesses to the continued growth and success of our community.

Each year the program begins with a call for nominations in the spring, nominees complete their profiles throughout the summer, and an independent panel of judges reviews all submissions.

This independent panel meets in early fall to discuss and defend their choices, and the finalists are announced shortly after.

The awards are presented in November, during a gala that has come to be known as Barrie's premier business networking black tie event.

Building on the success of last year’s improvements, the committee made further changes to the format of the event, securing a venue that could comfortably accommodate more guests, and engaging even more support from the community.

The very long list of sponsors believes that Barrie’s best businesses deserve a bigger and better gala to honour and recognize them.

Categories were fine-tuned again this year to better suit Barrie’s business community, the nominee profile questionnaires were refined to get the best overview of each company, and a new look for the award was developed, all of which contribute to the prestige and weight of being named a Barrie Business Award recipient.

The list of previous Barrie Business Award recipients and finalists is impressive; this year’s finalists are no exception, and Barrie residents should be proud to have such diverse and compassionate businesses within their community.
