Richard Claus of Innisfil won “Ontario’s jackpot” — $382,900.20 in the April 1, 2023 Lottario draw.

Richard, a retired welder and musician, said this is not his first big win.

“I won $10,000 a year ago on Encore,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

“I went to the store and asked the cashier for a printout of the winning numbers and brought it home. The printout said there was one winner and I thought, ‘Maybe I am that winner.’ And sure enough, I matched all six numbers.”

Richard woke his wife up to share his big news.

“She said, ‘Is this an April Fool’s joke?’ When she realized it was real, she was so happy.”

“It feels good to win this big. I’ve had no sleep since I found out and have been shaking ever since.”

He plans to share his win with his daughter, take a vacation to Las Vegas with his wife, purchase a new guitar and save the rest.

Lottario launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 10:30 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the early-bird draw. Visit the Lottario page on OLG.ca for more information.
