Lure in your mom for a reel-y great time this weekend.
To celebrate Mother's Day, the province has made it a free family fishing weekend May 11-12. It means Ontario residents can drop a line in the water anywhere in the province without having to purchase a licence or carry an Outdoors Card.
“Free fishing is a great way to get out as a family to celebrate Mother’s Day and enjoy our beautiful lakes, rivers and streams,” Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry Graydon Smith said in a news release.
“Whether you’re new to fishing or have been doing it for years, what better way to kick off the spring season than enjoying fishing with family or friends," he added.

While you don't need a licence to fish, people participating still must be carrying a government-issued identification showing their name and date of birth.
If you can't drop a line this weekend, there will also be family fishing weekends for Father's Day (June 15-16) and Family Fishing Week June 29-July 7.
