Some drivers may need to find an alternate route through parts of downtown Barrie during most of April.

Morris Shelswell Excavating and its sub-contractors require a full road closure of Owen Street between McDonald and Worsley streets.

A full intersection closure will also be required at Owen and McDonald streets, near the downtown branch of the Barrie Public Library.

The work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. on Monday, April 3 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.

The closure is required to perform underground infrastructure works related to a residential development in the area along McDonald, Owen and Worsley streets.

The city says access for residents living within the closure will be maintained. Emergency services will also have access to respond within the closure, but not to travel through it.

Detour routes in effect:

Owen Street – Worsley Street – Clapperton Street – Sophia Street East – Owen Street

McDonald Street – Clapperton Street – Worsley Street – Mulcaster Street – McDonald Street

Codrington Street – Peel Street – Sophia Street East – McDonald Street.
