Downtown Barrie got a visit from the Green Party today (7 photos)

Mike Schreiner was in town to begin the party’s People Powered Change campaign

As the provincial election campaign trails come to Barrie, it was the Ontario Green Party leader Mike Schreiner who first hit the downtown Barrie core today

Schreiner was in town to begin the party’s People Powered Change campaign in order to head into the June 7 Ontario elections strong. As the leader of the provincial Green Party walked Dunlop Street with local party candidates and supporters, he chatted with residents and business owners alike.

“People are telling me wherever I go and especially here this morning in Barrie that they are sick and tired of the three status-quo parties and they want something different,” said Schreiner. “The only way that can happen is with a new party and a new vision and a whole new way of doing politics. We’re the only party saying we can both raise the minimum wage and support and lower payroll taxes for small businesses, and I know that one of our local candidates in Keenan Aylwin is very dedicated to the plight of small businesses, as is our Bonnie North for Barrie-Innisfil.”

Schreiner met with supporters today at a coffee house on Bryne Drive before taking a half hour to meet and talk with downtown Barrie business owners.
