Don't forget to turn your clocks back

Also a good time to check the batteries in your smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms
alarm clock

With daylight savings time ending on Sunday, residents are reminded to set clocks back one hour on Saturday night, test all smoke and carbon monoxide alarm units and replace the batteries.

In order for battery-operated smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to do their job, they must have working batteries. It is recommended that alarms be tested monthly and that batteries be replaced at least once a year.

Working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms alert occupants of problems and warn people to leave the premises in the event of a fire or carbon monoxide leak.

In Ontario, it's the law to have working smoke alarms on every storey of the home and outside all sleeping areas. It is also required that carbon monoxide alarms be installed outside all sleeping areas so you can hear it when you are sleeping.
