The IOOF Seniors Homes Inc. (IOOF) celebrated the generous gift made by the Lowry family and the memory of the late Reverend Tom Lowry.

Contributions by the Lowry family and the Painswick United Church, along with community members and friends, together donated over $86,000, making it possible for the IOOF to install a new elevator for residents at the Terraces at Heritage Square location (92 Dean Ave., Barrie).

“Our dedication to the completion of the Terraces into a fully accessible facility for seniors is now complete with the installation of the elevator. We continue to be grateful for the work and dedication of the IOOF. Supporting the installation of the new elevator has been a passion for our family and friends, and a way of giving back to our community,” said Irene Lowry.

“Tom’s memory was honoured with a heartfelt tribute to the Lowry family’s legacy and celebration of their commitment to the IOOF. Not only is a new elevator an important structural asset, but it is vital to ensuring the safety and accessibility to all our residents who call the Terraces home,” Garry Hopkins, CEO, IOOF Seniors Homes Inc.

A commemorative plaque was hung in honour of the Lowry family, and to express the IOOF’s sincere thanks for their meaningful contribution.
Caring is our reason for being.

IOOF Seniors Homes Inc. (IOOF) is a non-profit charitable organization currently operating several facilities located in Barrie and has been serving the needs of residents for over 100 years. The IOOF provides exemplary accommodation, programs, and health care services to residents through an effective continuum of support that promotes independence and well-being through the latter stages of life.

The IOOF has recently embarked on a redevelopment campaign to revitalize the facility to a 226 bed long-term care home. This transformative renovation will include the creation of 64 new long-term care beds and 66 upgraded beds.

This will ensure enhanced modern spaces, updated equipment, private rooms, and increased square footage. With this undertaking, the IOOF is well positioned to meet the ever increasing complexity of care needs for residents who require long-term care within the community.
