Discovery of stolen plates leads to wanted man's arrest

On Wednesday, January 20, 2016, a South Simcoe Police Traffic & Marine officer stopped a car for speeding, and quickly determined that the licence plates were stolen.

BRADFORD - On Wednesday, January 20, 2016, around 1:15 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Traffic & Marine officer was monitoring traffic near a school in Bond Head.

He stopped a car for speeding, and quickly determined that the licence plates were stolen.

The driver was placed under arrest and the investigation continued.

The man was also wanted by York Regional Police for failing to appear in court for a stolen licence plate charge in August.

The 31-year-old Bradford man was released to a February court date on charges of possession of stolen property and a number of Highway Traffic Act and Insurance charges.

He was subsequently turned over to York officers on their warrant.
