On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 8:50pm police were called to Maple Convenience located at 38 Dunlop Street West, in the City of Barrie, for a robbery.

The suspect entered the store with his toque pulled down low and a scarf pulled up over his face, demanding the cash from the register.

The initial call to police had been from another patron who walked in on the robbery and spooked the crook, foiling his plan at collecting the cash.

The suspect immediately left the store with no money in hand, travelling eastbound Dunlop Street West but was caught by police a short four minutes later.

The 28-year-old Barrie male was charged with robbery and disguise to Intent and was held at the Barrie Police Service for a bail hearing on Thursday, January 21, 2016.
