Georgian College is one of four Ontario colleges partnering with Maple Assist Inc. to adopt a ground-breaking mobile application designed to be a one-stop shop for all you need to know about studying in Canada.
The Georgian Assist App, developed in India, is expected to reach over 100,000 international students from countries like India, China, Philippines, Japan, Brazil and Mexico.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Canada’s Minister for Innovation, Science and Economic Development recently launched the app in New Delhi. Scotia Bank, Air Canada, HDFC Credila, and the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC) also support the new venture.
Kevin Weaver, Vice President, International, Workforce Development and Partnerships, at Georgian College, was one of the keynote speakers at the launch and is enthusiastic about joining this pioneering service.
“With the rise of Canada as a premier destination for postsecondary education, this app will help connect the right students to the right programs at the right colleges in Canada,” said Weaver.
“The app helps students access a mine of useful information about any partner college and their admission process, as well as relevant tips on settling in Canada and adopting our unique culture. Georgian College is currently a home-away-home for over 1,600 international students, and we want them to have a great experience while studying with us.”
The direct interface of the app takes into account past experiences of international students. Vinay Chaudhry, Founder, CEO and the driving force behind Maple Assist, shared his experience as an international student in Canada, commenting on the stress he experienced studying abroad and trying to settle into college life.
He said the Georgian Assist App would provide all the information necessary for a stress-free, enjoyable journey for prospective students worldwide, right at their fingertips.
